Has anyone used this as a foliar spray on daylilies. I need to know how much to add to 15 gallons of water and do you know if it will mess up the pump on the sprayer. I know its not the same as table salt but the word salt puts bad visions in my head. Thanks for any help. Fred

Never used as a foliar Fred. I have just thrown out around the daylilies, hard to say how much. I just get about a tablespoon in my small hand and sprinkle all around the base of each plant.

Many growers, including some leading hybridizers, also add sewage sludge. This contains magnesium which helps to enhance the near-blue effect in flower colors and gives the foliage a good color. Epsom Salts (magnesium sulphate) has the same effect. It can be used at the rate of 3 tablespoons of crystals per gallon of water and must be applied in solution only. Its overuse over a prolonged period may make the soil too acid for daylilies and can also lead to a build-up of salt. Lime can help remedy acidity.
I read on other sites to dissolve the salt in hot water first.

If I may ask, what's your purpose for the Epsom salt?

I have used this for several years the same way April uses it to green up the daylilies, especially the new arrivals. It also suppose to help the plants take up the fertlizer. Just had never used it in my sprayer. Thanks for the information ladies.

Fred have you ever used Fulvic Acid? It's a plant growth stimulator that increases plant metabolism, nutrient intake and improves root development. I have used it with some great success.

Have never heard of the product Cary. Where would I look for it?

Has anyone used seaboost on their daylilies I received some at a garden club and was wondering about it's use on daylilies .... I have used epsom salt around the gardens it is also great for roses.... if it is diluted in hot water it should clog the sprayer... just make sure it is well diluted

Seaboost is another thing I haven't heard. I did dilute it in hot water and haven't had a problem.

seaboost is a sea based fertilizer you dilute ... works great on baskets and indoor plants have never tried on the daylilies though
