I'd heard something along these lines not too long ago. Can't remember the source. (Was either an online article or TV show). At any rate...very cool stuff. And with all the many things plants do to attract or discourage certain visitors this certainly does not come across as implausible.

Maybe we need to stock up on white out.

Wow, Very interesting! I had such a horrible time last year with the leaf miners on my Datura. Hmmm…maybe the white out! Might make for a good experiment!
