Hello Anne,
you have a large # of Morningglories, do you take steps to keep them pure??
I figure these would readily cross, just curious as to your observations.
Thanks Rick

I always sequester and hand pollinate a few blooms of each plant to make sure I get purebreds. I also do deliberate crossing and grow F generations of the more interesting ones. The really special crosses I work at stabilizing them. On average I grow out a minimum of 24 different MG's a year and sometimes ask for volunteers to help with grow outs of open pollination seeds in hopes of finding a really awesome cross.

One of the most interesting grow outs back in 2011 was Kikozaki X Fuji Shibori F1 OP seeds. The two vines were grown next to each other. I had 15 volunteers growing out a minimum of 5 plants each so I was able to get results from 75 different plants. I was very surprised to find that 80% of the seeds were crosses! The diversity was awesome and am wanting to do another grow out of the F2 seeds collected and also grow out some more of the F1 and try to stabilize some of them.

Different species but worth a try .. I always grow the I. alba in the midst of I. nils and I. purpurea but have never come across a hybrid in all my years of doing it.
