I bought "Carol Jean" not only for myself, but some for my Father and sisters because it was my Mother's name.
I bought "Red Flat Fred" partly for the hybridizer, but also because my husband's name is Fred. It has turned out to be one of my favorite daylilies.
At one time, I was collecting plants with "family names", but only still have a couple of them. It was a fun idea, but I found that most of names were nicer than the plants. These days the plant has to impress me first.
I did buy "Pawprints On My Heart" last year after losing our pet. The plant description grabbed me and then the name closed the deal. ;)
