Lots of them around here. It is spectacular in Spring, too. They are short-lived (20 years or so), tend to be top heavy, and high winds can damage them more than other trees. But it is worth it to get such a beautiful tree. Too big for my small yard, so I savor them through the neighbors' four houses up the street. Smiling

My understanding is it is because the trees split easily.

But they are one of my favorite trees and I would certainly have one, even with the problems, if my lot weren't just 60 x 120 and already lined with trees on north and west sides. Sticking tongue out
