I have never had an insect issue before ever.. and then i noticed my succulents had these little white webs flatvtobyhe leaf i got them all off and threw away some plants which upset me.. and I do tend to move my plants inside and outside on occasion.. esp beinh in an apartment.. but i havent been ableto get a realpicture of the other little buggers til today.. can you tell me are they related?
i see white and black bugs until today they looked like specs only.. I hope yall can help!!!

I'd guess the white ones are actually old shells from them maturing, but I really don't recognize them...

What plants are they on?

Tge bottom pic shows a leaf with stippling on it, spider mites do this, so do thrips, and there's several types of both...
The spider mites here don't look like that
None of the thrips I've seen do either...

You mention spider webs, can you describe them better?

Treatment will likely depend on the type of bug they are, but insecticide soap may wipe them out without a proper ID, if you're 100% sure they are feeding on your plants, and it looks like they are, then I'd worry more about killing them than IDing them, but you may need to, to effectively kill em...

Whitefly is the best bet. Mealy bugs are also white but will form a cotton-like material on the leaf/stem. Insecticidal soap is effective but be sure to spray it on the under-side of the leaves. That where these sap-sucking insects generally reside.

I've never had an issue with Spider Mites but I use a product called Safer Insecticidal Soap: http://www.saferbrand.com/advi... for other houseplant pests and it's said to work for mites also. It's usually available at Home Depot and Lowes and works for aphids and mealy bugs.

Im in Texas central Texas. The bugs seem to just like my succulents. The stipling i think for the most part is the way the plant is.
The webs wernt really webs so to speak they were on the leaf and over a bug it looked like i scraped them off and theres been no more. Its mainly the black bugs but thryve been there for a few weeks and the plants actually look ok.. they were cutting i was trying to root.
I thinkvthey came in with a new plant but its strange they are only on some even though they are in the same pot big round one..but its like every bug i could be hit with i was..lol

They just don't look like any kind of pest that we have mentioned, Ive battled em all, but just cuz I'm familiar with a pest here, doesn't mean there's not some other species that I'm not familiar with...

It's hard to say from the pics, they're such tiny things you did well to capture them! But the plants certainly look damaged!

The sceinetific thing to do at this point is eliminate contenders...

Could these be the first instar of either Thrips or the green mite? Either way, best to take action with the insecticidal soap before the insects get too far ahead. Good luck.

I sometimes have problems with Aphids on succulents (Hoyas) and other plants when the weather is hot, humid and not much air circulating.

Isthere a completely nontoxic way? My cats occasionally chew a few leaves of several plants but dont really eat them.. but i cant risk killing one of my cats or even making them sick.. i cant even use garlic.. it can really make them sick since they are in the onion family.
I thought maybe dawn and water might do it.. but maybe not and wouldnt that sufficate some of my fleshier plants?
Its been fruatrating to not know what these are and that I have never ever had issues before with bugs.. and ive gotten plants everywhere even pulled some out of the ground ..while on walks..lol. and no.. not from peoples yards.. :-)

And where would i ask about soil and water and how its affecting the soil.. Im used to seeingbthe whitish coat on yhe top atbyimes.. but i might be imagining this but there looks like fine sugar has been shaken in throughout my soil.. not like a coating i mean likegrains all in the soil.. could that be eggs of a pest? They are through it all.. and ive never seen that either in my plants...

Sure...no insecticide is going to proven toxic to mammals if used properly

My prefered mite spray is safe to use the day of harvest, which means...we eat a lot it!

Your cats have no doubt been exposed to it on some lvl...

In reality, many plants are toxic to cats, i doubt some garlic oil would hurt them...

I think your fears maybe misplaced...

You can always spray with dawn and water, dish soap can make animals sick tho, I doubt it can hurt them either tho.

If you add cayenne powder to that mix, it'll taste bad enough that your cats will think twice!

They do look more like aphids than any other pest that comes to mind to me...how sad would it be if it took us this long to sort out that it's aphids! Ha

Couldn't you start with the safest thing, hand squishing the bugs and/or a strong spray of water. Then graduate to some insecticidal soap such as Safer's.
I only use chemical type insecticides as a last resort.

I was rushed and meant to add that if you search vinegar mite spray you will find a recipe that will melt mites, you absolutely must wash it off after, it'll melt aphids mealies thrips too, and their eggs, but it's most effective against mites, their tough to impossible to eradicate.
It's alkaline and will burn ur plants if left on for more than 20-30 mins, but it works in a few mins do if u have a hose it's no prob.

I'd water first, wait 30-60 mins, in that time hand squish the the ones u see, then spray tge home made spray, watch it work, wait a few more mins then hose them down good!
High pressure bladt them if you and the plants can handle it...

I like to add rubbin alcohol to the recipe too, not a lot, an once or so for a gallon, maybe a half gallon.
