The Chelsea Flower Show 2010

By NEILMUIR1
May 31, 2010

Despite a few articles in the press before the show wondering what Chelsea will be like in the financial crisis, plus their normal doom & gloom; the horticulturalists and everybody else involved in the world's most famous flower show gave them all a quick lesson in how it can and should be done!

Dear Brenda, a pleasure like anything for you!
I do hope you have have been enjoying your weekend away?
It is the Biggin Hill Air Show later on next month; this airfield was famous in the war as an RAF fighter base and it really annoyed the Germans, who bombed it and did everything to it, but it never stopped them as it was difficult hit!
So I was wondering if you could inform Tony for me the following; They RAF (Historic flight), are having a fly past over London with a Lancaster bomber, six Spitfires, four Hurricanes and for the first time ever a Mosquito. Followed by the last flying Vulcan Bomber, with Harriers and four Tornado's!
H.M. Queen is taking the salute on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, and i can assure you everyone in London and everywhere else will have their eyes looking into the sky, once the sound of the Rolls Royce Merlin Engines are heard. Don't worry Tony will know what I am talking about, and so will the whole of Kent and London, plus RAF Duxford, the most unmistakable sound in the world.
Makes the hair stand up on my neck, and a shiver run through me.
Regards.
Neil.

Thanks so much for postings these wonderful pictures. I have never seen a flower show quite like it. The arrangements are very different from those around here in the US.

Neil, I have read your last post to Tony, and while my DH is reluctant to join the Wonderful World of Cubits, I have just signed him up and he will respond to that post tomorrow regarding the flyover. As soon as I read it to him, he had lots to say about the degree of difficulty, the different planes, etc. So hopefully, tomorrow he will share some thoughts with you. Thank you so much for sharing this info with him (us)... I'm sure that flyover will be a stunning sight!

Best regards from a warm and sunny Southwest Colorado,

Brenda (& Tony soon I hope!)
