Re the question from Anne about the persistence of the color patterns on a nil I posted in the previous thread, the answer is yes. The patterns seem to vary day to day, but persist into the afternoon.

This is the 2nd day for this bloom. This plant is a descendent from a pale pink I received from Emma several years ago. That plant did have and it's offspring often do have blooms that persist for 2 days without closing.

One purp caught my eye today.

I love that pale pink and did something chew on that purp or is that it's normal form?

Regarding the purp, I'm undecided. At first I thought it was insect damage, but on the other hand, the divided petal edges are very smooth and uniform and gently undulant, so.... It is not the first one that I have seen like that on those vines, but it is the first one I've looked at up close.

Then definitely tag, pollinate and bag the flowers that look like that.

The same rampant vine had two partly split blooms today as well.

that first split bloom picture sure was a looker.. it looks natural to me too... great uniformity.. like it should always be so... the others are looking like random splitting.. like the form gene had an open slot... rather than a preferance designated... that interior pinkness...is sure electric

Here is a cute mutant Ipomoea purpurea. The split petals look like fingers.

Gordon I picked them up at our local nursery to fill in a trellis against my garage. I thought the red would look nice against white. I will gladly save you some seeds nodding

Those are all great Joseph, but I love that blizzardy starred one. It's like a snowstorm in the milky way.

I had a hard time capturing the blue edge on this white example, but it is one of those big ones that I like.

Gordon, I think Ronnie's red vine is the one commonly called Cardinal Climber. It's readily available, although they are sometimes confused with Cypress vine (and vice versa!) I thought it was called I. sloteri, but I'm seeing a different name on the sites selling it, Ipomoea x multifida. Of course, I could be confused, too. Rolling my eyes.

I've got some of the I. quamoclit seeds I collected for Ron when I grew out some for him. I've always known it as Cypress Vine.
