Since we have turned the page on another month, I thought it was time to start an August 2014 bloom thread.

Here is something I have discovered on one of my plants. I believe that 'Buddy's Victoria Jade' is a bud builder. I noticed this a few days ago, and have been watching the plant closely. 'Victoria Jade' has been blooming for over 3 weeks here, and has that 'Y' thing with those spindly things occurring all over the scapes. The plant just keeps making new buds all over each of its 4 scapes. Here are a few pix I took this evening.

Maybe Michele could comment on this phenomena that is occurring with this plant.

It would be great to have a purple bloom with teeth as a bud builder. I am thrilled with its performance.

Thank you Alex for starting the new August bloom thread! Smiling I was surprised no one had stated one yet and was working on one when I decided to check the forum before hitting "finished"....we should have a good show of blooms for August with the continuing bloom in the north, rebloom and lates.
Peak bloom is still going strong here...a few images from today.....

Catastrophe Waitress, unusual coloring of dark rose pink with a shiny orange watermark, big bloom, opens well after cold mornings.

Cool Hand Luke, fabulous pleated sculpted form with a great plant.

Carved Pumpkin Pie, a favorite in the yellow relief sculpted forms, great parent!

Diamond Diva, new last year and didn't bloom but is making up for lost time with several perfect blooms so far. Nice edge and some light pleating.

Joseph's Coat, unique brown with purple eye and dark brown veins.

Waggle Dance, beautiful pattern eye with a well branched hardy plant.

and 2 garden images....

SHORES OF TIME - I planted this daylily 4 summers ago, and it never bloomed. I forgot about it, didn't put a plant marker in front of it, but did notate its place on my computer map. This year after fertilizing all 250 plants with organic alfalfa meal, I was shocked to see this plant bloom. It may not look like 'Shores of Time' but it is. It took 4 summers to bloom. It also is located in the steepest part of my ski slope garden. Difficult for me to get to, and not a place I go to often. Usually only in the early Spring, sliding down on my derriere, in between plants.

Glad you enjoyed the garden images. In the excitement of getting bloom images I often forget to take them *Blush* Poor Crazy Ivan looked cold! This has been a chilly bloom season for us, I think there have only been a couple mornings it has been above 60f. Red, Hot and Boom ...is a pretty one! A few from yesterday and today....

Oriental Opulence, perfect blooms every time.

The Levitating Ananuki, another really tall one, nocturnal.

Long Legged Lap Dancer, fun name for a gorgeous pleated red.

Kentucky Shape Shifter, not totally happy this far north but does grow and bloom each year.

The Owl, strange one that makes you want to stop for a closer look.

Wild Irish, really pretty red with a fancy edge, wish it would open a bit more.

I have never notice BVJ as a bud builder here. From my understanding on a bud builder the top of the scape will continue to grow and add buds and it kind of twists as it does so and the scape just gets taller and taller. Yours seems to be adding branching. When those spindly things (branches) with buds bloom and then the scape grows and adds more buds above those blooms and those bloom and the scape grows and adds bud and so on then it may be a bud builder.

Very short scape this year on established Blue Dolphin. From My Lips and Politically Incorrect, both ffoe on short scapes in pots. The top sepal on PI looks like an obscene hand gesture.

Rolling on the floor laughing Politically Incorrect, might need to get that one! Long day and I am a few hundred images behind on sorting yet again *Blush* Images from the past few days...

Barbara Barnette, new one last year, first blooms this year. Wide petals and chubby sepals with heavy substance.

Twilight Adagio, nice polychrome with a yellow edge.

Saucer Full of Secrets, pretty pleated form with an eye and crepe texture.

Point of Divergence, super plant, dark lightly patterned eye and a great parent!

and I couldn't resist this threesome of Tuxedo Whiskers Smiling

Dormants I thought I would get POLITICALLY INCORRECT too. But it is a dormant.

PS There is no photo in the database.

Love Saucer of Secrets. I am a sucker for crepe-textured daylilies. By coincidence I am listening to Pink Floyd at this very moment. Angel
