We decided to take the backyard art tour last Saturday in between rain showers. With map in hand, we set out to see some of the most eclectic gardens we've ever seen. We couldn't make it to all of them, but here's a sampling of the ones we did see.

This first one was a "drive-by only." The entire lot and fence line was decorated with flamingos.

After driving by a few, we decided to peek at this one's backyard. Notice the Xmas balls on the ends of the aloe's thorny spines out front.

Here we go! We have to walk through this "arbor" of doll heads, light bulbs, and I don't know what else, to get to the garden.

Here's Smockette (Linda) who was visiting us passing thru the arbor. Wonder why she looks bewildered?

We're into the yard, and don't know where to look next! I'll never look at the milk carton, orange juice, or Purex bottle caps the same way again....

Here's the side yard. I'm not sure how many dolls gave their heads for this display...but someone drank a lot of beer to make the border.

This is the entrance to the secret garden at the back of the garden. We did not go in to the maze, as we watched some others get stuck on the many cactus, as they tried to navigate out of the back garden. There were some chairs back there to relax in....

There was lots of ironing board "art." What was most interesting about this photo is there's no 6 ft fence next door to block the view!

As close as I got to the inside of the secret garden at the back of the yard.

A golf club tower next to a small bridge over a drainage ditch. Notice art/things are beginning to creep to the neighbor's yard too!

Maybe the cactus is to deter anyone who may want to steal some of the yard art? The seating area is around the tree in the center of the yard. Looked like it was made with painted kitty litter containers topped with boards.

A bottle tree for the neighbors to enjoy...more green bottles.... The neighbor's yard was filled with bluebonnets! No stinkin' mower needed there!

We drove to the famous Cathedral of Junk, hoping to get in to the backyard. But no... the city had gotten wind of the tour and closed 'em down. The city considers the cathedral a hazard and is trying to condemn it. We were only able to view it from a gate across the backyard. We did get to talk to the owner. He seemed to be very disappointed that he wasn't allowed to let any of us in to visit his creations.
We did get pics of the front yard. There's a race car of some kind on the roof with a mannequin driving.

We're still in the front yard. I believe the sign asks us to stay off the grass...

This is as close as we could get to the Cathedral of Junk. It is much larger than the photo shows.
