what is the best way to "attach " staghorns directly to oak trees?

You can use wire or zip ties; the plant will eventually attach itself and you can then remove the zipties or wire, unless the plant has grown over them in which case it's ok to leave them. Put some Sphagnum moss between the plant and the tree to help it get established.
