My first choice is War Chief:

Schreiner's, 1992.

I believe this one is called Red Zinger. I like the form and the smaller stature of this one.

Rio Rojo

I believe this historic red is Dauntless, which I think is considered a self....or maybe a bitone? These days I'm not sure it would even be considered red, they've come a long way with reds!

Neal -- Red Zinger is a beauty!! And yes -- they have come a long way with Reds since Dauntless, but it was as red as it got back in the day..............

And in case everyone isn't up to speed yet -- The Alphabet 4 thread was number one in replies last week with 388 -- next busiest was 53! That made us top thread for four weeks running! Wonder how long we can keep this up!!??!!

My Second one is Nebraska Big Sky. I added several reds last summer, so I should have more next year. This is it for the red selfs for me.

Good one Bonnie! I love the purple beard against the red petals. I'm unfamiliar with that one. Whose is it and when was it hybridized? Inquiring minds and all............

I am limited on selfs so everyone posting multiples is testing my iris reserves. I do have reds, but only two that have bloomed so far. Unless we are counting iris like Mary Ann's Avatar Sultry Mood as a red (like vendors often do)??? @MuddyMitts
