It certainly appears to be Ipomoea purpurea seedlings

They do indeed look like seedlings of a variety of Ipomoea purpurea but definitely not Cypress Vine (Ipomoea quamoclit) so something must have been lost in the translation, LOL.

The hummers ignore morning glories here, but are supposed to love Cypress vine. I think they prefer the narrow tubes.

I've never seen the hummingbirds visit my morning glories either ... they do seem to favor tubular blooms.

I'm having trouble with that trilobed leaf. I know some MGs have those but not the ones listed. See pic #1

Hey Celia, I saw the trilobed leaf, but in looking for a good seedling pic ran across this on the UC-Davis site for Ipomoea purpurea so didn't really consider searching beyond images.

"Mature tall morningglory is a vine with long stems that branch, twine, and climb. Leaves are often heart shaped, sometimes three-lobed (both leaf types can occur on the same plant), and mostly range from 3 to 5 inches (7–12 cm) long. Leaves are alternate to one another along the stem. Minute flattened hairs usually cover the leaf surface, but sometimes leaves are nearly hairless. Japanese morningglory is similar in appearance but instead of flattened hairs, has erect to ascending hairs on the leaf surface."

I saw a listing for I triloba, but I do not think it is anywhere near what Jaym1818 has.

But, given what he ordered and what he got, it could possibly have some Ipomoea hederacea (Ivy-leaf Ipomoea) mixed in Shrug!

Sweet potato vine, Ipomoea batatas, can also have tri-lobed leaves:

http://www.finegardening.com/m...

Not that I'm suggesting that's what this is, I think I too have seen them on morning glories, but just that it will probably be easier to figure out what it is when it has grown some more, and especially flowers.

Edited to add:

There's also Ipomoea cordatotriloba var. torreyana
http://www.wildflower.org/plan...

Not sure about Ipomoea alba, moonflower, which according to articles can have three-lobed leaves but the picture I found didn't look like the same shaped lobes. I read about a couple of other species but no pics.

Jean, thanks for the clarification. It's too bad because I very much like the plant Jason wants.

Jason, you could try the trade forum here. Lots of folks have lots of seed to spare.

Sure thing, Celia. Truth be told, I had just spent the previous 90 minutes looking at Begonia sites/images and was a bit bleary-brained. Blinking As Sue pointed out, trilobed leaves show up in lots of seedlings.

Jason, there are 5 folks with seeds to trade here at ATP.
