Summer...with the seemingly never ending winter and long cool spring, those of us in the north thought it might never get here.
With the arrival of Summer it's time for a new Weather Thread. We love to talk about all aspects of weather, the effect on our gardens, and on our lives. It's a good place to keep a record of weather in our gardens from year to year too, so for that reason let's stay as close to the topic as we can. Please join us and tell us about your weather.

We came from here The thread "Weather in your garden~Spring 2015 (Closed)" in Daylilies forum

When I finished my morning watering at about 6:15 it was already 83 with an increased humidity of 39% and a Dew of 56. You could really feel the difference over yesterday morning with the moisture level up. Ended yesterday at 109.

DH said that should be against the law.

They are calling for 93F again. Currently it is 66F. Summer days here are pretty much Xerox copies of each other. Our summer weather is pretty boring, sunny and 88-95F, with occasional excursions above 100F to add 'interest'. I could take off until October and you wouldn't miss me unless Linda shares her Arizona monsoons and we get humidity to go with 88-95F. In that case, not sharing is caring and sharing is not caring. Hilarious!

That big fire up at Big Bear has burned 15,000 acres as of yesterday morning.

Frost is sounding kind of good right now, after seeing the 111 and 113 that they threw into our forecast for next weekend. Blinking

What a lovely picture for the Summer Weather Thread.

Here they predicted a washout of a day for Fathers Day saying the sun might peak out by 5PM. Well it is already sunny out, the rain from TS Bill overnight has moved out.

I'll take that frost Margaret. We're cooking at 99.8 right now with no relief in sight -- no clouds. Sighing! I'm not going to look at the heat index. Humidity is 44%.

They told us we would have brownouts last year because they were shutting down the San Onofre power plant but the brownouts never happened, thank goodness. Not sure what the temperature is in the house but it feels like it is time to turn the air conditioner on.

No scheduled brown outs here Kelli, just drivers that run into poles and bad equipment issues. Angry

I think you should turn on your air! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

So earlier in the day they had said that about 6:30 we might get strong showers again. This was news from this morning as the overnight and very early morning rain had left and the sun was out.

Boy were they ever correct. I watched the rain line come towards us as I could see people running from the park across the street to their cars. then watched the rain line come across the parking lot and hit us.

The wind that came with it blew straight in, my curtains were standing on end. But only from that direction, back of the house no big deal. Closed up all windows from the front till it passed. Still raining but the wind is gone. It looked so strange the rain going sideways.

I know that look well Rita. It does that a lot in FL.

We keep wondering how FPL will hold out here with these temps. & everyone running the A/C. So far, so good but we are not all that populated; at least nowhere near like down south. We would surely have had numerous brown outs & rolling black outs if we were there.

Storms are firing up from the heat & we have gotten cloud cover from them & the cooler winds too which has helped to cool us to 92. Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! No storm for us at least not yet. I don't really care if it rains b/c then we will just steam & it will feel as bad as the heat did. We only hope the cloud cover holds out till sunset otherwise the temp. will climb quickly back up.

Leslie, what is the deal with your A/C? Are they waiting for a part or do you need an entirely new unit? Girl I sure feel for you in this heat & hope by some miracle of miracles you get A/C back on Monday.

In case y'all hadn't seen it here's why we are suffering so.

They say the southeast but what's the explanation for Linda in Tucson? And Natty's future predictions of hell week? And you guys in California? And what in the world is up with Margaret's abnormal weather?????

Ouch, Ann! That looks horrible. Join us at Margaret's house. nodding

Hell week is still in our forecast. Doesn't Mother Nature realize that this is the North? What is going on? It's probably normal. I'm just too new here to know better at this point. Looks about the same as it did two years ago during our first summer here. It was horrible. I think frost is probably normal for Margaret though? My Dad has had frost in July, which isn't unheard of where he lives, even though it is NOT normal, no matter how I want to look at it. Blinking

Thanks Rita. I took the image a few days ago, it was the only summery looking thing blooming. We've still been cool, 41 degrees yesterday morning, but mostly 50's nights and 70's days forecast for at least another week.

Air is on. It took about two hours to go down three degrees.

The power goes out here when it rains. Obviously, it isn't a frequent occurrence and never when we need the air.

Aw heck, I'm heading up to stay with Char. It's a lot closer to me than Margaret's. Hilarious!

I told the dh & I'm pretty serious about it that I'm going to become a vampire until this high decides to move. Sleep all day & get up just before sunset. It sure isn't worth being up & tortured during the day. We keep all the curtains & blinds closed so you can't really see out anyway & you sure as heck don't want to go outside. At least at night you can step outdoors w/o dying of heat stroke. I can turn on the spotlights & see outside so why not turn things upside down & try my best to ignore this heat?
