I have purchased peppers called ''ancient sweets'' at the store but have never seen any pepper plants or seeds .
Does anyone grow these?
They are large red and great on the grill.

These peppers are grown and distributed by Sunset Produce. I've read that someone saved the seeds and grew bushels of them.

Rolling my eyes. Well I wish I would have saved some seeds , I did not even think of that.

The closest I came were these

They were smaller and not as thick walled , but they taste good and grilled well.

You might want to go back and get some more peppers and save the seeds, Cinda. Online friends have grown them out and were impressed with the result. They may or may not be a hybrid but the next generation of seed produced well for them and had the same nice thick walls.

Another one very similar I could recommend is Giant Aconcagua, growing very large and long and also thick walled and sweet.

i have saved and used the seeds from ANCIENT SWEET peppers,,i find its an outstanding pepper,, very sweet...only bad thing,,,start early,,it takes more time,,, peppers come true from seed so i guess we can call them heirloom,,,,the name is trademarked,,, so u best not use it,,,but there is no patent on the plant or seed,, i think its a real winner,,,,, indianabob,, grower of fine weeds and a few hostaThumb of 2012-12-29/indianabob/c85a8f

Welcome!
Hi Bob , may I assume you are in Indiana ,great to see you here at ATP
I agree that is a great looking hosta.
I may have to try to save some seed from the store bought peppers if I can find them . It is frustrating just when you get hooked on a plant you can't find it anywhere.
