This little plant has been growing in the garden for awhile, near the okra. I didn't think much of it (maybe a stunted okra plant) until the other day it grew these pods.

When I noticed the pods, they were green but the following day when I went to take these pictures, one has turned a dark purple. The plant is small with just a few leaves that are soft/velvety.

I never did see flowers, but maybe I missed them. It sure does look the same.

Edit to say - although edible, it looks like I better get them up before the seeds fall into my garden and reproduce.

I was reading here that the seeds can remain viable in the ground for some 20 years or more.
