Please give me a reason why a cultivar shouldn't be on The List!

Pawprints on my Heart is not a re-bloomer. If the gall midge attack you will be crying!

Here in England we get the gall midge and this year even the early mid-season bloomers have been affected. Without re-bloom you have to wait another year and hope it doesn't happen again.

wow that's a list! I can't be of any help, since I don't know them, I took a look at some in the database and saw that some cultivar has a low number of bud and branch, maybe you can put apart those and go with the ones that have a higher bud count? If it's important for you. Or focus on a trait that for you is necessary and use it to narrow down your list? Such as height, maybe? I'm going to let out the tallest one for example, my little garden looks better with plants not over 65 cm. Just an idea!

Well I can tell you that I have Starman's Quest and I wouldn't part with it. It is a good plant for hybridizing with, if you plan on doing any hybridizing.

yes, there are quite a lot of cultivars on my list that have an expected bud count of only 16-20...

That's the only reason why I would allow myself 25 different ones

That, and because I like the way they look on the photo
(I have no chance to see them in real life)

But not re-blooming might be a good point...
High ones would get a place at the back of a border, against a blank wall, so that's no problem

The only two that I know on your list are Starman's quest, which I own and love, and White Eyes Pink Dragon, which I have seen in person and think is gorgeous for a pink. I've actually been tempted to purchase it.

I agree with the idea that you need to figure out your priorities. We won't be able to tell you what you should buy if you don't know your goals. For me, I'm increasingly picky about branch count and scape thickness. If a plant is thin-scaped with small bud count, it better have some other exceptional feature!

I would pick at least one from each category so you have blooms throughout the growing season. And then narrow it down by bud counts and reblooms for more picks.

White Eyes Pink Dragon would definitely be on my to buy list. Not as familiar with the rest of the cultivars on your list.

oh yes: I am definitely taking plants from each catagory: 25 to 30 in total!
The only question is which ones

As I really like spiders and UF's low bud count is quite common, I think.. (?)
Also thin scapes is something to worry about

Rebloom is something I will look for, now that I know about the gall midge

I know bud count matters to me but also how strong are the scapes. Fooled me is very common one over here in our zone and while attractive the scapes are on the spindly side. But if your garden is well sheltered it would not matter that much but might for me be a deal breaker if i had to really narrow my selections.
Also how well do the blooms hold up under the heat of the day? I personally would take that into account as well.

Yes, spindly scapes is something to worry about..

How they do in the hot sun is not that much of a problem where I live:
over here we call 5 consecutive days with temps of 77F or higher, of which 3 are max 86F or higher a "heat wave"
This year we already had 1...

It not getting warm enóugh might be more of a problem!

A bud count of 16 - 20 is ok with me, if I REALLY like the flowers and if I have enough plants to make a nice display.
My borders are very small compared to those you all have, so big clumps would make it look crowded
