I've found MM is not self fertile but will cross with Luna Pink Swirl. I have five MM x LPS plants. Can't wait to see the blooms.

This is one of the best hardy Hibiscus ever to me! It blooms nonstop and the dark foliage looks great!

I'm loving these beautiful hardy hibiscus!!! If anyone has any seeds they would like to sell would you please send me a tree mail along with a pic of the plant? I'd really love to get some growing in the early spring. I'm guessing that would be a better time than now as the winter months are approaching. Thanks

I would grow this plant even if it didn't have the spectacular red flowers!
The foliage has a deep reddish tint.

The hummingbirds get attracted into the yard by the flowers - although I'm not sure they get any nectar from them.
And the flowering goes on for about a month.

I tried to overwinter one of these in a pot and it died.
I overwintered others in pots that did ok.

Mine got a very late start this year and didn't get very big...I'm going to move it to a sunnier location that will be watered more often next spring and see if that helps. I only got a few blooms on it. But, they were BEAUTIFUL blooms!

I was thrilled with the blooms! Our conditions are fairly harsh (hot temps, strong winds) so I was surprised it not only survived the winter, but then bloomed for me this summer. I have it next to another hibiscus, "Turn of the Century", and the colors highlight each other. Mine is still blooming. Is there a trick to collecting seeds? I'd be willing to do it for Suga but I've never done it before.

Darcy here is some info on getting seeds .. You also might want to go to the Dollar Tree and get some organza bags - you'll find them in the Baby Shower/Wedding section. I put them over developing seed pods so I don't lose any seeds.
