Many of you probably know that we recently finished beta testing Dave's new seed swap system. I think the test was an overwhelming success. This new system will not only allow any ATP member to conduct their own seed swap, but will allow multiple swaps to take place simultaneously and even let member participate in multiple swaps at the same time. Dave has asked myself and another beta tester to conduct simultaneous swaps to see how well it works with multiple swaps. Before I commit to doing this I would like to see how many people would be interested in participating in my swap.

Here is what I have planned.
Since this is the first time for me to host a swap, I would like to keep it small, around 20 to 25 participants. I would like to host it around my main area of interest which is Native Plants/Wildflowers and Hibiscus. It will probably take place in the first couple of weeks of January. If you would be interested in participating in this swap please post a response here as soon as possible, so I can make a final decision on whether or not I want to host.

Update: This swap is officially open for sign ups. If you would like to participate go to this page and click on Hibiscus and Wildflowers Swap. This swap is limited to 20 people so don't wait to join if you are interested.

I don't think I have enough seeds left for another swap right now, but I think more people might see this in the Plant and Seed Trading forum, Jay. Smiling

I would love to help test the seed swap feature. I only just put my first 2 hibiscus in the ground, but I do have native seeds for the Southeast.

I'll wait and see what kind of participation you get to give others a shot. If you don't get the desired number of traders by the time the swap starts I'll join.

Yes I'm like poisondartfrog, I do not really need seeds but if you run short I probably have a few native seeds and could participate. I will be starting some of my annuals in January, vegetables in late Feb, this is my best year ever for bring ready ahead, thanks to the beta seed swap. This is an awesome tool!

Jay, I don't have hibiscus or Native seeds so I would not be of any benefit.

What about wildflowers Jennifer? It doesn't necessarily have to be native, just something that grows wild.

I have lots of purple hyacinth bean seeds. No idea if those are native/wild. And I could go out and collect White Swan echinacea seeds. But that's about it for my stock Shrug!

I don't have much seed left right now either but will be glad to join this swap. Smiling

Would be possible to submit a little write-up for the daily article/tip about the swap with a link to join?

Right now the swap is only tentative. I am trying to see if I can get enough people interested to make it worth having one. If enough people show interest and are willing to join then I will get with Dave about setting it up and give everyone links and details.

I just joined ATP today. I was lured over here by poisondartfrog who posted about this on the Wish List swap currently going on at cubits.org. That will be my first swap using the Cubits site, but I have done a lot of group swaps on GardenWeb over the years. I would love to try out a swap here too using the new system. I read through some of the posts about it and it looks pretty cool. I have always preferred large group swaps to doing many small trades, it sure saves a lot on postage.

I have gotten more into native and wildlife supporting plants as time goes on. I've been raising some butterflies and moths each year to watch their life cycle, and am always looking for new host plants for new species. I collected quite a bit of seed this year and last from around 60 species of US natives I grow. Some species I have a lot of seed from, some maybe just one packet though. I should still have quite a bit after the other swap. So if this swap gets started and you are willing to take on a new ATP member, please let me know!

@molanic you're in luck because @Horntoad is currently recruiting traders for a swap specifically dedicated to native plants and hibiscus.
