Do any of you know if you have plants that will grow in mostly shade? There is some morning sun on part of spot that my friend is looking to plant. I would do research but I'm trying to list all my seeds for the swap. Thanks!!

Almost all the plants in my backyard are grown under similar conditions. A few hours of direct sun and maybe some dappled shade for a couple more hours. Hollyhocks, delphinium, Iris, lobelia, petunia and clarkia can be grown successfully.

Not sure how hot it gets in Colorado in the summer but even full sun plants can prefer just morning sun in the summer if it gets really hot (over 90F).

bxncbx - I have some deep red petunias. I don't know the variety, but they are beautiful. If you need/want that color, let me know and I'll post it here for you. Or anyone else for that fact.

Thanks! The only petunias I've grown so far are double petunias that were supposed to be trailing. I planted them in a hanging basket but they stayed upright. Still very pretty but not what I expected.

If you have extras, I would LOVE them. I bought two deep red petunias in planters this year which actually spurred my color theme out front (which then got me looking at daylilies, too, and then started my crazy addiction to daylilies). I've been wanting to get the deep red variety againnextyear but was worried because they are hard to find and most places I've seen only have bright red. It would be so great if I could grow my own!

Do you know if they come true from seed? They probably have to, right? I don't know how else greenhouses would propogate them because dividing and tissue culture seems unlikely.

Dnd - I don't know for sure if they will which was my biggest concern offering them. I do know the nursery that sold them does not sell hybrid anything. But like you said, these colors are hard to come by so it's worth a shot for me to try. My vegetable seed is really high quality and geared for our zone as well as the few flowers I've bought from them. They pride themselves on offering very distinct and unusual. If you want to try I'll put another pak up.
