I would choose Liberty hands down. It is one of the few that causes me stop each time I take a walk in the garden. It is so beautiful that I have added a second and plan to add a few more around the gardens. It's price has become more reasonable. I don't hesitate to buy a second or third of a variety, if it really catches my eye while browsing at nurseries.

I would definately have Liberty at the top of my list although that is based on others' pics as mine is only a young plant. Earth Angel, Blue Angel and Montana Aureomarginata would also be right up there. Got a picture of your Liberty to post?

I haven't gotten into picture taking. I have and like the others you mentioned too. My Liberty is 5 yrs old. There used to be a nursery near me which had absolutely huge clumps of montana Aureo Marginata from which they would dig divisions for sale each year. These clumps, there were perhaps 6 of them, were easily 40" tall and 6ft x 10ft in size. They also had similar clumps of other varieties. They had to move due to road construction. I do have 3 montana Aureo Marginate, two of which came from them. It will be a while before they are anywhere near as magnificent as those.

I would have to say Sagae is a favorite of mine, but I think I may be changing my vote when Humpback Whale gets a little older. I have Liberty but it's never looked as pretty as the ones posted on here Grumbling ! I'm trying it in three different areas with different amounts of sun, but so far none of them make me want to take a longer look. I have Ivory Coast. It is smaller than liberty but looks about like it. And it's a good looking one! I'm going to leave all the liberties where they are and see if there's any improvement.

'Liberty' for me. My 'Great Expectations' is definitely not large, but my 'Cutting Edge' is. Go figure. But mostly I'm trying to fit way too many hostas into a city garden' so my big ones are pretty limited.

I like Victory as well.
Great Expectations is a beauty, whether large or small. Once the foliage turns into it's mature form , it is outstanding.

I am in the same boat, space wise. But I still like the big ones. I am not familiar with Cutting Edge, I will have to check into it. There is an empty lot, which is too small to build on, between my property and my neighbor to the north. I mow it so I use it for some gardening too. The city/county use it as an access to the marshland behind my house.

'Cutting Edge' is registered as "medium". Somehow mine didn't get the message. This was mine Aug. 13. Also in the picture you can see 'Touch of Class' at the bottom and a bit of 'Gemini Moon' and 'Alligator Shoes' at the left. 'Salute' is in the upper left, but it's a small hosta.

That is a nice one Ann. I like the rippled leaf edges.
I have several of the Sum and Substance sports Parhelion, Green Gables, Lady Isobel,,Titanic and some of the others with the accounting names. I especially like Titanic but have to keep an eye on it as it wants to revert. Of course when I remove the green ones, I have a very nice dark green which looks like Green Gables.

I believe Earth Angel is a Blue Angel sport. I do have it and like it very much. I believe mine is about 5 yrs old now. Last year was a great growing year for hostas in my area. The previous year was very dry and several of my hosta didn't do much increasing. I am expecting much better increase this year.

Anyone else growing Bridal Falls? I got mine two years ago from Plant Delights. I think it is a real beauty with it's wide white ruffled border. I also grow Niagra Falls which is a much older plant. I like it's dark green ruffled leaves. Also War Paint which has beautiful variegation early in the season but gradually turns green. I like them well enough that they are planted where I see them often.

I've got Bridal Falls ordered for delivery this year. It looks like a beauty! If you like uprights you can't go wrong with Krossa Regal, Lakeside Ripples or All That Jazz.

Bridal Falls is one on my wishlist too. There is also a newer sport of Niagara Falls, Angel Falls that looks very attractive as well.

Does anyone else grow Tidewater? It is a large hosta with very heavily grooved leaves. It is very noticeable in a collection of larger plants. Bluish green leaves and kind of mesmerizing. Very nice vase shape too.
