I'm just in from fertilizing the citrus and the roses. I fertilize four times a year with a slow release granules. I have a distinct type for palms, roses, citrus and everything else. I'm out of the palm and general purpose so I'll pick them up tomorrow. During the hot rainy season the plants (and weeds) just explode and it is too hot to do much about it. I'll have to go through each bed once the heat breaks in late October.

I know what you mean about weeds and too hot to do anything about them, Jim! Grumbling
Weather is just turning the corner so in a few weeks we can cut down most things and tidy up the Weeds Gone Wild! Hilarious!

A ragtag bunch at the moment.

It sure doesn't look ragtag from where I am sitting. Nice!

Thank you, Ursula and Jim! You are both so kind! Smiling
Everything is going into Fall right now. Leaves are even falling from The redtwig Dogwoods.
Everything looks overgrown and scary!
Because it has been too hot to do anything out there that really needs to be done, like weeding and cutting down spent plants.
Hopefully soon..

I just don't have the energy myself. Started back working this week. Now I look at everything and
We got our willow tree pollarded today. Looks terrible but wait in a few years!!!

DBH just widened a Daylily bed and mulched it heavily.
Have added alot of new ones this year and needed the room.
I know alot of folks consider Morning Glories to be weeds, but I find them charming and magical when grown in profusion with the many different shades of blues, purples and pinks and white picotee edges and splashes.
My backyard in the morning is like MG Kindergarten!
I have trouble capturing it in photos, but will keep trying....

I'd trade some of the nasty stink vine I have for those morning glory weeds anyday. Very pretty.

Kathy, you really hammered that poor willow. Keep us appraised of its comeback.

The curcuma or ginger 'Sulee Sunshine' that I bought from Plant Delights has bloomed and it is really something to see.

Ha! That willow could care less. You could throw a willow log on the ground and if there is water in the ground, it will grow roots and sprout leaves. Incredibly fast growing too. This is the second time we've cut it!

Janice, lovely colors indeed, and I am partial to the Sempervivum (?) collection.

Jim, pretty Curcuma!

Thanks, Kathy. I have grown quite fond of gingers. They like part shade and go away in the winter, only to return like gangbusters in the spring. There are a million different varieties, some with attractive foliage and others with great blooms, some tiny and others very large.. I finally had to devote a garden to them. This is my varigated shell ginger in bloom.

So pretty. I wonder if the tiny ones could grow as houseplants.
