Here in California it seems like early spring and the irises are waking up. Not much of a cold winter and the last two weeks are like late spring with temperatures flirting with 80 degrees. The rain seems to have quit for a while. I hope it comes back.

Meanwhile, Blackwatch has opened and Trick or Treat is showing color. Hell's Fire has seven bloom stalks. It's one of the early ones, just not usually this early. And two of our Pacific Coast irises are blooming, Big Money and a Ghio seedling.

Looks like it is going to be an early season for us.

I'll post pictures later.

I took a quick walk around and everything looks fine but I didn't see any bloom stalks. I might have missed them because it really was a quick look ....

Not much to photograph yet.
Trick or Treat had decided to trick us this year with misformed flowers.

Black Watch is very short, a problem we have when it stays mostly warm.
We did have some cold this year, but not enough for the medians.
Thumb of 2016-02-16/coboro/7bea05

Hell's Fire has 7 bloom stalks. Several are showing color and look to be fully formed blossoms.

Two PCI's are already blooming, but short and down in the foliage.
The purple is an Ghio seedling and the yellow is Ghio's Big money.

They are really trying to put on a show especially Hells Fire. I hope my medians ignore the warm, dry winter here and try and bloom.

Carl, I had some last year do that. We had an early Spring so they decided to put up stalks. Then they got hit with cold and snow for a day and it really messed with them.

Yes, that's a problem we usually have to worry about with our rebloomers in the fall. I have resorted to putting paper bags on stalks when it is very cold. But very cold for us is a mild day for many. I'm hoping that they can bloom and we don't get a cold snap.

Bonnie, with my stolen label fiasco, it will be interesting to see if I really sent what I thought I sent. I know the lilies are correct. Wait till you see the little red guy! Save some Sunny Joy pollen in the freezer. She comes up first.

No worries, Linnea, I love them all. And it will be a bit of a puzzle if they are not labeled correctly. I am anxious to see the lilies. smiles

Fantastic photos and color on that iris Carl!

I agree with Liz about the beards Sherry.

That's a really nice color on 'Hell's Fire'. I'm always willing to give up a little on form for a good performer in the garden..
