Field Poppies, the Memorial Flower

By Sharon

Sometimes when we are going full blast ahead and not paying a bit of attention to anything around us, something stunning catches our eyes and an old truth simply slaps us right in the face. It happened to me when I saw the poppies.

My grand-daughter called me this afternoon from Kent, England. She mentioned spending spring break in Normandy and other parts of France in April. I asked her to please visit Flanders and the memorial cemeteries there. She had asked about the poppies and the poem; so I told her as much as I knew. Almost 4 generations have passed since 1915 (counting 25 years in a generation), and I am hopeful she can visit those hallowed grounds during her break from school.

I am grateful to Sharon for writing this. And I am even more thankful for its significance!

Leon, first let me thank you for the acorns. Such a nice gift and I do appreciate them. But more than the acorns I appreciate your words.

Sometimes the timing of things is stunning.

I was finishing a painting earlier today, one that will go to my son for his new home. And while working on it I was thinking of how much my uncle would have liked the painting and how much both my son and I miss my uncle, he was a remarkable man. Then I came here tonight to find your message and your acorn gift and I had to go back to read the article once more.

Having said all of that, I'll share with you the painting I finished today. I think you'll like it.

Stunning, the timing of it all.
Thanks, Leon!
