I saw some sky pilots when I was hiking above 10,000 feet. I just love the texture of the leaves and the beautiful purple flowers. Does anyone know if there Is a garden variety of the plant?

I recognize your location as Mr. Whitney and your photos are credited to Laszlo Hulicsko, July 4, 2005. Did you forget to take photos when you saw them?

Skypilot (Polemonium eximium) is a type of Phlox and there are some garden varieties that look a lot like it. If you Google "Native Plant Nursery", you come up with a long list of Nurseries that specialize in native plants. I'm not sure you can find that particular one but you can come close.

I haven't seen one for years - if you found one, consider yourself one of the lucky few.

No, I took photos of the sly Pilots but they were destroyed in a messy divorce. I saw them twice when I hiked Whitney in July. They are beautiful and the only color you can see besides the Lichen. I would like to find a similar garden variety if there is one.
