Here are 2 plants someone's blessed me with last year or year before. I'm fairly certain the larger of the 2 is a lilac - possibly Hart's NOID White. Any ideas?

“Little girl, why are you doing this? You can’t save all these starfish. You can’t begin to make a difference!” After a few moments thought, she bent down, picked up another starfish & hurled it as far as she could into the ocean. Then she looked up at the man and replied, “Well, I made a difference to that one!” Be the change you wish to see in the world. http://www.stillsthatspeak.com...

My son just purchased his first home and has a nice large front and backyard. I've seen this growing up other trees before but for the life of me can't remember if it's dangerous to the tree or not. Any enlightenment would be appreciated.

Last but not nearly least is regarding the Akebia quinata in my yard. It has taken over...literally taken over half the yard. My HOA and I have repeated discussions Sighing! regarding my 'vines' going over my fence (townhouse) despite the rear of my townhouse backing to woods and my neighbors on either side not really caring. As many of you know...I detest using chemicals. This anaconda-like vine grows all around my plants that are back there specifically for the hummers, butterflies and the other birds...I truly don't want to spray anything that will hurt them. Is there anything natural that can annihilate this vine?

Congrats to your son!
Yes, that could be a Lilac noid Hart's White, I have been giving the out (potted suckers)

Poison ivy vines can do that on trees, so be very careful handling it. Poison ivy won't hurt the tree. Any leaves that you can get a closeup on? I think regular Hedera ivy is also possible.

Sympathies on the vine. Getting under the plants and cutting as close to the ground as possible is the only non toxic method I can think of.
Plant it and they will come.

That hairy vine does look like poison ivy. Just looking at it is making me itchy. Blinking

This is one time that I might call in a landscaping company to cut the vine down and spray it with heavy-duty ivy killers. But that's just me and my poison ivy paranoia talking. Big Grin

Ric mentioned cutting invasive plants at the base and sticking the cutting in round-up to kill the rest...I wonder whether this method would help with the vine?

Maybe your HOA would send volunteers to help pull it up Whistling

Poison Ivy seems to take the straightest, most direct route to the top and is hairiest.
English Ivey meanders and circles tree with side branches and is evergreen (Poison ivy is not evergreen) Winter Creeper isn't hairy, but is evergreen and has side branches all along the main stem.

It is Spring so sap is running. Clean all tools, etc thoroughly. Good luck!

I could use a little help with this plant, I don't know if it is a kind of attractive 23rd or if it is something I planted. Has tiny blue flowers.

Pulled this up from the back of a bed. Looks like it could be a tree or shrub?
It has the woody stem. Also--it had a long root already at the bottom.

Potted it up--just in case,,,,, Crossing Fingers! Thanks, Gita

Gita, I would have to see that in person, might be Sycamore tree, or might not. Their baby leaves aren't shaped fully like mature ones.

Chantell, Goldenrod 75% sure, and virginia creeper 95% sure.
Plant it and they will come.

Feverfew is a good guess. The preceding unknown is some species of Rubus (raspberry, blackberry, etc.).
