Thread OP

I would like to grow Cissus quadrangularis (Veldt Grape) in my garden.
However here in PEI (Canada) we're in zones 5a-5b, so I would have to grow it
in a container & take it inside for the winter.
Does anyone know where I can get a plant from a Canadian nursery (because it
can't be shipped across the border as a live plant).
Or where could I get seeds?
Thanks in advance, Denise Motard -

Welcome, Denise. Um, it's not a great idea to give out your e-mail address on a public forum like this. It would be good to edit that out of your post above. (see the Edit link in blue letters in the lower right?)

If someone from garden.org wants to contact you privately, there is the Tree Mail function (it's the little white envelope at the top of the blue sidebar on the left). Then you can give them your e-mail, your address or even your phone number privately if you want to. But anyone with an answer for you can also just reply to your post.

I am a Canadian from the other end of the country - Vancouver. But I live in Florida now and just visit home when it's beautiful there (and too hot here), in summer. So, sorry I don't know any Canadian nurseries you could contact. But I'd suggest two things - if there is a well known botanical garden near you (maybe in Nova Scotia?) you could e-mail them with your question. The only botanical garden I've been to up there in living memory is Van Dusen but hey, through the power of the internet, you can still ask them about your plant.

You can also look up other members of this site who live near you and ask about nurseries - the Member List is at the bottom of the page right above the link to Pinterest. A really great nursery will have someone who can probably source your plant for you.

(edited to add) Here's someone on the site who has posted this plant to the Database. She lives in New Jersey and might have a clue how to get a plant. @Ursula

I sure wish I could send you some pieces, this is such an easy grower, I have it growing everywhere, truly.
Is it legal to send seeds?
My big plant is blooming like crazy right now, I will see if it sets seeds. ( maybe I need to help that along...) If so and if it is legal to ship to Canada, I will keep you in mind.
