Greetings...

1st attempt at growing head lettuce....do I pick the leaves as they grow out or not? If it's head lettuce...I would assume the leaves would fold in and make the ball....I transplanted them this evening so they have more space....

Assistance please!!

You should be seeing the 'head' growing inside. A little more time is all that's needed. They look great, BTW.

If you're growing head lettuce you wouldn't want to be harvesting leaves as the plant grows, you need to let it mature and form the head. (I wouldn't think it could hurt to snitch a few of the outside leaves here and there, though Smiling )

And different varieties will have a different firmness/size of head. If you know your variety, maybe look up the description. Head lettuce will never be like the iceburg you buy in the store, so much better!!!
