Are there any left? All of my grandfathers smelled so wonderful!
I had seeds from his for the longest but the last batch of plants growing got nipped by an early freeze before they went to seed
Does anyone know of a fragrant petunia?
Thanks

Yes there are but I don't recall any names. The deep purple, and sometimes white, ones seem to smell the most. I just go around the garden centres in spring and sniff to identify them. Often one can smell the scent from several feet away and then home in on them.

Since the garden centres are just starting up here, I'll see if any particularly scented ones have a name when I'm checking out the flowers, and post back.

I had some wave "blue" dark purple and regular purple, as well as Rainmaster (white) that smelled wonderful. I usually smelled them in the afternoons whenever I was working in their area of the garden. Didn't have to be on top of them to smell them.

Sue, thank you so much. I miss the smell so much

Taqiyyah, thanks for this two names. Very helpful

Do y'all know a couple of people have asked me why I was smelling the petunias , when I told them I was looking for petunias with s fragrance, they said" Petunias don't have a fragrance"
I didn't bother getting into it
I just looked at them and walked away
A couple of years ago when I was told this before, the lady kept wanting to argue about it Shrug!

I smelled of the waves a couple of weeks ago and detected no fragrance, I don't recall the color, don't believe they were pink
Thank You!

Yep, I was surprised myself, actually. Didn't know petunias had a smell, but my waves did. Think they only have detectable fragrance during certain times of the day...? Mine were very sweet, but also I had a lot--lining a pathway and two big wild looking planters full.

I have many large planters that I fill with them, I think they are most fragrant in the evening.

Select Seeds (and others that carry heirloom seeds) have 3 varieties of fragrant petunias:

Bit late to be starting from seeds but they're selling plants of the white one and the "climbing" one as well. I've had great plants from these folks.
