Just recently repot my 25 year old Thanksgivng cactus! You can see what the rooting system looks like! I used a small handsaw to split 2"inch stem

The plant forum under Schlumbergera cactus (cactus and succulent forum is to general and harder to find subject)

Did you try the House Plant forum? They have quite a bit on that subject.
When you go to either of those forums just type in the name of your plant in the right side search box. It will give you a list of the threads, or you can just start your own thread.

Personally I think the best one is in cactus and tender succulents because that is what it is, but you could do simultaneous threads on houseplants too if you really want to interact with people!

I just like the effort to communicate with Growers who care for Schlumbergera cactuses of all types! I have a picture that will help identify segments and leaves. Great information to help start this forum. New Christmas cactus growers or old can use.

Thanks for the photo clarification. There's been lots of discussion and helpful info on that very subject in some of the older threads.

Thanksgiving cactus has a bud in June! I was surprised !
I just root in water and give compost tea with worm castings! Here my pictures. I mail in tubes to protect segment cuttings!

repotted two branches I rooted for 2 months! I wanted to continue to show the rooting System before potting!

Nice! Toilet paper and paper towel rolls work well for shipping plants of a tubular shape too.

Hi The cardboard this time of year in a bubble envelope gets very warm during long shipping trips and takes the moisture out of the leaves! I have gotten burn spots and the segments will not root! When I use the tubes I drill holes in both ends and air keeps leaves alive! I also, use plastic prescription bottles from the pharmacy! The pharmacy have 7"inch bottles and I drill holes at top! It's recycling too!

That sounds so much better then the box I got mine in a couple of months ago. They cooked and still are barely hanging on . They just stay limp and dry but not dead yet.

My new starters have new segments. I want to move them to a new hanging pot. How many do I use in say a 9" pot? How far apart.

I had my Christmas cactus outside for awhile it was great in the shade. I moved it back in to the house. 99 and 13% made them look thin and I was always spraying them.
I will wait till it cools to get the trimmings I want. I would like the flat orange Easter and Violet fall or winter.

I learned from an expert about Thanksgiving Cactus on Facebook group: Zygo-Succulents-And More an interesting fact! Lee Goodfellow - An oldie, but goodie. Developed by A.J.S. Mc Millian( now deceased) co-author of Christmas cacti: The Genus Schlumbergera and its Hybrids. This is one of the early Queens (1985) (S.orssichianna x Spectabile).This is a nice old variety

I may have some segments available I don't think I will have enough for flats!
