I'm looking for an nice bright tropical tangerine TBI to replace 'Rave On', which I love, but is not a reliable bloomer for me. Any recommendations?

Hi, could you possibly complete your persona profile with your location (city, obviously you're in Idaho). That way we can answer your questions and make recommendations based upon your climate, including altitude etc. Even Idaho has a fair amount of variation, from desert to mountains.

I plant iris in my daughter's garden in Salt Lake City, and 'Orange Harvest' has done very well for us there. She just sent me a picture a few days ago of a clump we moved from her previous house. It has doubled in size in 2 years, and is in bloom now. (sorry, it was a texted picture, so I can't move it to show you)

Hi and welcome.I had very good luck with Montevideo - a Joe Ghio creation - that's more vibrant than
my photos. I haven't grown many orange irises - I'm sure there are some that are a deeper color.

Found an old picture of Orange Harvest at the old house.


The color is a little more clear than this picture shows. Not pastel, very warm orange.

I can suggest 2 for you that grow well for me here. One is Maid of Orange, an intermediate I believe. The second is Avalon Sunset, a TB.

Edgefield Glow has done well for me.I really like it in this grouping with 'Smart Money', 'Halloween halo', and 'First Interstate'.


Not as orange, but getting a lot of praise from visitors to my garden is 'Leading Light'. It's very floriferous... Lots of bang for the buck...

Here are a few of the taller orange ones I grow in zone 7a. Some are soft and some are vibrant. I like them all.

My very favorite is Autumn Riesling. It's very hardy and blooms well. I think it looks best in the shade or on cloudy days.
