Has anyone had success with this? I have a few cutting in water and they haven't done anything in 3 wks. Anyone try rooting compound? My mother and sister would like some starts off my vines. Thank you!

Also what about azaleas? Can you start them from cuttings? Mom has a beautiful old/ancient lavender I would love to have.

Both of these can be air layered. I would use serpentine layering for the Clematis. You can find photos and instructions online.

Thanks, Clint. I will try googling serpentine layering. I know on some things you can bury a low branch. I wonder if I could do that on the old azalea.

That's what I'd try. My friend uses a brick to hold her branches down.

Ive used these before. You can do the same thing with ziplock bags by cutting them or other plastic.

What are you putting in the ziplock baggies? Do you secure them someway? Thanks

I used potting soil. You can also use moss. I cut the plastic down the side so I could wrap it around. I secured it with the bread ties I saved. You could use any wire. It's important to wound the branch on one side and apply rooting hormone first.
