This plant looks like Dicentra eximia rather than Dicentra formosa 'Bacchanal'. That cultivar is supposed to have "wine-red" flowers, which I guess means really deep pink, almost red (and a slightly different shape, because it's a different species). Do you remember where you got it? Could it be misidentified?

By the way, your plant is (or was) amazing. So big and healthy.
