My customer bought this house 15 years ago and nobody has been able to ID this tree. She is in a garden club too! Well this is the first year it has bloomed. Can anybody help. Thanks

Could someone tell me what this tree is?
It has been growing on my neighbor's front lawn foe a long time.

The elongated leaves make me think it may be a fruit/berry tree
even though I have never seen any on it.

Could be Diospyros kaki, though I don't get to see that one in the Ohio River valley.

The genus Diospyros tends to be dioecious, which means with a single tree you may never see fruit.

OR NOT....

Seriously--I have been living next-door to this tree forever.
Never seen any signs of fruit on it.
I think it is a pretty tree...~7' to 8' tall. I like the shape of it and the leaves.
Overall--it has a mounding look with the leaves nicely layered over each other.
