Daylily (Hemerocallis 'How Beautiful Heaven Must Be')

It has always just been a fair performer for me here in zone 6.I have others in the same color class that are much better.

This plant has a beautiful bloom. It is not a fast increaser in my climate. It blooms mid to late here which is nice. I have had it quite awhile and it is very difficult to set a pod on it but its pollen is good. Have not grown any of its seedlings and maybe I should. The flowers open up better after a warm night rather than a cold night. Flowers have an excellent substance and never melt in hot sun.

It is hardy here but in its full second year here it did not flower at all. I hope if does this (third full) year (but there is a deer eating daylily buds so who knows).
There are no scapes visible on it yet.

'How Beautiful Heaven Must Be' is painfully slow to increase, can be pod-reluctant but the pollen is good. It doesn't hang up, doesn't water-spot, and bugs seem to leave it alone. It grows well for me, it just doesn't increase. It's is hard to capture its true beauty in a photo, I think.

I have had good success using Bobbex as a deer preventative. If you don't want to use Bobbex, using fine plastic mesh (black) draped over the plants can help save the buds. I used thin sticks near the plants to keep the mesh from tangling with the scapes.

Thank you for the suggestions. Do you have a supplier for the fine plastic mesh?
Last year I used row cover material but I did not have enough to cover even half my daylilies. I have used some clear plastic this year but it traps rainwater and then the weight breaks the plants.

I may try Bobbex but it may be too costly to treat all the daylilies. These deer are also eating the leaves down to the ground and last year ate rhubarb plants down to the ground.
