Thread OP

I bought an outdoor tuberose begonia at a local nursery. First, the the blossoms rotted rather than dry.. Next, the plant collapsed. The outdoor begonia was on an outside covered porch. The door to the porch was opened once daily, to pick up the morning newspaper. Now I have wilt on some long term coleous, definbachia, and indoor ivy. I am concerned also about possible wilt in another long term fuzzy leafed purple flowered plant. I have had some of these plants for over 30 years and now they are in wilt. Could losing my old plant friends be related to the begonia wilt? I have some saved starts in my garage. If this is a serious wilt problem when can I return my saved plants?

Hi and welcome. Some pictures of the afflicted plants would be a big help here.

Also your location is important, regarding weather conditions and temperature range. Please would you fill in your personal profile with your city/state/country so that we can help you out more easily.

If you're in one of the areas that has had a lot of rain recently, that certainly could be part of the problem.

Tuberous begonias are rather prone to do that. I'd be surprised if your other plants "caught" something from it, usually different plants vary in susceptibility. Just to clarify, these are all under a roof so being hand watered? Is it tap water or do you collect rainwater? Has anything changed in their care, for example could someone else be watering them and giving too much? Has the water source changed, or the fertilizer? Has anything else changed - repotted for example?
