In case you aren't on FB, this morning I issued a challenge:

The ATP Database is growing by leaps and bounds, and I want you in on the action! Today, and today only, I will pay you an additional 5 acorns per appropriate plant comment that you make!! Go comment on your favorite plant!

Ummm- posting the same comment into multiple plants is cheating.

I'm a tough teacher....

oh, I wasn't expecting anything for those!! I just figured since I was there I'd get them done...same info applies to all of them...we really need a "Genus" specific page!

What about for native status. All my comments start out, "(plant name) is native to:" then the information varies from plant to plant.

I'll say yes on Trish's behalf, but I'll also place a limit of a maximum of 100 acorns (per person) for today's bounty.

Do the comments need to be moderator approved before your acorns show up? I took advantage of the special offer and posted over 20 comments but don't see my additional acorns.

I haven't given them out yet Big Grin

Since it is a manual process to do the extras, I figured I'd let the day run out and award them all at the same time bright and early in the morning!

Thanks, Trish. That sounds good to me. Hurray! I tip my hat to you.

Does the 1/2 acorn which is the standard for each comment show up right after any new comments? I guess I am trying to figgure out if comments need to be approved first, just like images and proposels. There are caches for those but no catche that I can see for comments. The comments just show up as they are posted.

Not sure that it is fair to post a limit on the extra acorns here to 100 if there is no limit mentioned on the Facebook post Whistling

Sorry about that, Rita. I posted to FB a bit too hastily. Sad

I hope that you still feel good about the comments and contributions that you made!

Besides it is not like you loose anything because the comments are always worth the regular 1/2 acorn that you get.

Actually, you should be getting a full acorn for each comment, unless it is extremely short. If the comment is one or two lines, it skips giving the acorn. Maybe I should change that.

And sometimes it can be a very important fact which only takes one short line to deliver. Retroactive?

I agree with Ann. Most of mine are one line Honey bees get nectar and pollen from this plant is an important fact (I think) it might get a word or two longer when I add honeydew to it but not usually
