Hi! My name is Nikki & my husband and I inherited a small daylilly garden when we moved out to the county Easter 2014. This is our second summer here.

I have identified most of the daylillies that the previous homeowners (who built this home on 2.5 acres) planted.
These include:
(1) Black eyed Stella
(2) Country Melody
(3) Little Grapette
(4) Christmas Time
(5) Blackthorne daylilly

But I'm at a total loss to identify the white ones as well as the peach ones. I was thinking the peach ones could be pink playmate but they don't seem pink enough. Can anybody help?

PS Today I introduced some Stella de oro and some orange frost. So now we will have 9 types. I'm new at this but eventually wanna make more daylilly gardens with more exotic types plus get some calalillies going (kinda hard because I had a near fatal car accident which led to me leaving Med school 3rd year with $273,954 in loan forgiveness for disability but I'll try to get my husband to help 😝)

Pics of unknown daylillies attached, any help is appreciated!!!

Robbobeli looks a lot whiter to me. Hopefully someone can help you. Do you know the size of the flower and the scape height?? That would be helpful.

The scape height is about 14 inches and the flowers are 4 inches across at widest disaster. They're not nearly as tall as the toreador cape daylillies growing next to them which have 2 foot scapes and taller!!!

I have been going around to the local Home Depot stores and Lowe's Stores to see what they carry because I know the people who previously owned this house and planted that daylily garden shopped at those stores...they didn't do anything exotic or rare. But I found nothing that looks like the white ones. I did find toreador's cape at the store and it was on my list of what I suspected the red ones could be.

Something weird is that I thought we had 6 daylillies but we had 7. One bloomed this summer that didn't come up last summer. Daylilly blackthorne. No idea why that is. The previous homeowners used that landscaping fabric stuff and it is like a black plastic material and it was interfering with the root systems of things in the front yard and the backyard. My husband and I tore it out of both sides of the landscaped area in the front yard and we were able to get it out and pretty much one piece In each area.

But not so in the daylilly garden in the back yard. It disintegrated into lots of pieces back there and when I dig back there I find pieces of black plastic mixed in with the nasty black clay that eastern Oklahoma has. And when I was dividing some daylilies this year, I would find that black plastic material wrapped around some of the root systems. 😡

Aww thank you so much Smiling I am completely new to this and did not even know these flowers existed until we bought a house last summer that had them!!!!

I want more flower beds and more daylillies!! Lol. Trying to keep up with daylilly research while completely eliminating brown recluse spiders from my home (I got bit a few weeks ago 😭) and deal with the botched monochrome paint job they did in 90% of house b4 selling where they hired cheap and 2 mistint 5 gal tan paints - close but not that close in color - were mixed and diluted and sprayed on (creating a color that I can never match 😡)

Welcome! to NGA Nikki, I hope you decide to stick around and check out some of the other forums as well. There is a lot to learn and many more new plants to discover if you enjoy gardening. Here are some acorns, you can use them to buy badges like you see under our names or buy a raffle ticket http://garden.org/ideas/view/d... and try to win a prize.

What's weird is that the pics on the AHS site vary greatly in many cases from the pics on here. I'm assuming soil conditions and many other things play a role. During undergrad, all biology majors were required to take a 2 credit class on botany. It was HARD. I wish they addressed more practical issues like daylily propagation in that class instead of making us memorize the lifecycle of tons of fungus at one point in the class Grumbling

Thanks so much!! Yeah I had no idea what the acorns were all about or what the badges were!! Is there a link explaining all this? I strongly suspect this site will be much better from my desktop than my iPhone (have only used it from iPhone so far).

I will def stick around!! I have so much to learn!!! We have 2.5 acres to work with and so many plans including fruit trees (already got some going), huge veggie and herb garden, and a massive amount of flowers!!! But digging into this Oklahoma clay is killing me. Bad car accident at age 27 and near fatal stroke at age 28. Was not expected to survive either. Praise Jesus! I will prolly have to do some raised beds.

I have to find out about this daylily auction I saw some of you posting about lol

Welcome aboard Nikki and happy husband!

I'd suspect all of your daylilies came from a local nursery? Nurseries here in Ohio tend to offer the same, limited varieties year after year and a good place to check and even show them pics from your phone. Home improvement stores tend to mix up variety a little but if you have any nearby it's another good place to try. Someone may have a daylily farm nearby? Good to check that too.

You may never ID all of them, I grow several NOID daylilies. I'm no photographer but I do know there are threads with tips for getting accurate bloom pics here at ATP, er, Garden.org that have helped me. Work factors in but I get my best bloom pics before the sun gets a chance to beat-up the bloom. HTH and best of luck with the new home and flower ID.

Welcome! NikkiHays!

I'd like to suggest Sunday Gloves for your white one. Mine is white, but almost always shows up as the same color that yours does when I take a picture of it.
Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Sunday Gloves')

As you'll see in the pictures, sometimes it looks white, but it also looks yellow, at least in the pictures.

If you are brave enough to go to the Lily Auction, you are much braver than I am! Whistling Hilarious!
