Hi & welcome,
@Miltonsmom!
Hopefully the info you read about feeding pets included the botanical name of the plants. There are quite a few plants referred to as various types of chickweed, from several different genera such as Stellaria, Cerastium, and the plant in this discussion, Drymaria. Edibility is usually very specific, down to species, so one wouldn't want to jump to an entirely different genus with an assumption of or any vagueness about edibility.
Interestingly the plant of this discussion, Drymaria cordata is edible for humans. No idea if that would include canaries, but could be most reliably/accurately checked using its' botanical name.
