I have no idea where to put this but since I am going to use it in a container I am trying here first.... Big Grin

I got it last year from my local nursery as a gift throw in the bag. They had a mini garden class and left over they throw it in customer bags as left over from classes. So I know it is some kind of a mini plant.

When I saw the stem coming up I thought a usually stick thing that normal size grass grows. But it bloomed today. It is hardy because I left it in this pot last winter. It is 3" wide and about 1" high. Of course higher if I added the flower but the green/white grass part is small.

Nice, Cinta! From the info in the database, it looks like the perfect plant - doesn't need a lot of water, takes full sun, deer and rabbit resistant, and it blooms Thumbs up

WOW what a perfect plant and they say it is hardy to zone 3. It looks so small and fragile. I was surprised when I saw it coming back this Spring. I was even more surprised when I saw the flower. I thought it was because we had a mild winter and I had it in a protected area.

Thank you Lynn.

You are going to love it Cinta.
You might want to try this one also. Stays in a very tight bun in full sun. In this photo it is getting ready to bloom.

That is neat. I will see if my nursery is carrying that one. I did not see a mini garden plants area this year. I wonder if she did not get many sales last year and left them off the order this year.

Hi Cinta, It is a great ground cover and will take foot traffic. I have some growing in a raised bed to encourage it to spread. I plan to redo my front yard walkway and will have a narrow area between it and the wall of the raised bed. That area will have various ground cover plants including Armeria (Sea Thrift) and Leptinella (Brass buttons). I've chosen these so when small children "need" to see the fish in my very small 50 gallon pond they won't hurt them by stepping on them.

How is this adorable plant doing through the summer heat?

The armeria seems to thrive the summer heat of July and August. It gets water once a week during that time. And it stays in that beautiful tight mound in full sun. I have seen this one grown in partial shade or filtered sun and it seems to fall apart in the middle under those conditions.

@purpleinopp

It is doing great....I still have it in a pot and I have been a very bad plant mommy this year. One of the reason I have not posted any pot pics. (I have not kept up with the watering).

This has been the worst summer I can remember. It is so hot and humid and not a drop of rain and I do not want to even go outside. Not the summer I am use to having in my zone.

I give this plant 5 stars. It does not care it is sitting in a dry pot in blazing sun and heat and no water.

Ugh, so sorry! It sounds like you had the same summer as here. No rain for 5 weeks, 90+ every day. What a great little plant to enjoy that!
