I have had a hard time finding pruners to fit my small hand. A lot of the time, once opened, I can't hold on to them so I am constantly lightly squeezing them just to hold on. Well after a few hours of squeezing, you can imagine how tired my hand gets. I had Kohl's cash to spend. I found these. I can actually let go and they would still be on my hand.

Right?!
When I open my hand to accommodate most pruners, they drop right out of my hand. These don't look like they will last. But they will work for me until the Big Guys in the pruning business catch up. I usually by cheaper pruners as they seem to be the only ones who make small ones. Then the pruning blade is small, too. At least these are normal pruning size blades. Another pruner I am looking for is the discontinued Cutco Ratchet Pruners. We bought them for my 90 year old MIL. She loves them! Maybe she will will them to me?? Rolling on the floor laughing

Yeah, I have a pair of those Cutco pruners. They do work great! And if you look on their website, all the reviews complain about the new design. Maybe they'll bring the old ones back? Angel

Yeah, they hack through about anything. I have had to put some WD40 on to lube them up a bit, but other than that, they are great.

I have Fiskars pruners as well. Two pr were given to me as gifts. As well as they cut, they are too big for my hand. I have to slide my palm up nearer to the blade to get it to open fully and for me to hang on to them securely. There is no grip up there. I drop them a lot. Very frustrating they are too big for me.

My DH bought me some nice, smaller by-pass pruners from our local Ace Hardware store. I have a problem with the spread on the regular ones as well. Here's a pic that shows the difference in size:

The new ones are in the middle. They work pretty well, but won't handle anything very big.

If you only need the handle to not-spread-so-wide, and the jaws DO open wide enough, even when the handles still fit your hand, you could wrap and tie some strong twine (or twist some wire) around the handles so they CAN only open up part way.

Now they will always fit your hand, but the jaws might not open wide enough for some stems.

I stumbled across this pruner made by Florian. Looks a LOT like the Cutco ones. Heh, comes in purple, too. Smiling
