Yes, I do know some flowers, but not so much. I recently have taken some photos of lilies, but not sure what kind of lilies they are. I'm good at...at least recognizing them as a lily, but that's it. When posting them in my portfolio most people want to know...what kind...so I do try to look them up. The problem is when searching for a red and yellow lily that's all I find is the photo titled "Red and Yellow Lily". I hope you can help me!! I hope it's OK to add more photos after this. I do have a lot I just don't know. Not all are lilies either.

Hi Dawne, Welcome! to NGA

You have a lovely photo of a Daylily (Hemerocallis), actually not a lily at all.

Although your photo is awesome, it will help in the future for you to show us more plant.

Thank you Daisy!! There was actually more of it, I guess it automatically crops the photo when adding it to this page. Besides being a "Daylily", is this by chance called a Ruby Spider Daylily?? When posting my photos to my portfolio, I try to use the name as the name of the photo and if I have all Daylilies...I can't name them all Daylilies. Know what I mean! Smiling Thank you again for your help!! I do have some water lilies...just not sure exactly what kind of water lilies. Should I make each flower into another question of could I just add here?

It could be Ruby Spider but it's hard to tell from a cropped image and there are hundreds of daylilies that may look like this. There are actually over 82,000 registered daylilies.

The best thing to do with an unknown plant is post in the Plant ID forum, http://garden.org/forums/view/... posting one thread per plant so you mark each one as solved as the members help with IDs.

And welcome to NGA!!

It could be 'Ruby Spider' daylily but it's hard to say for sure since there are tens of thousands of different named daylilies. I think it would be better to make each flower a different question. Welcome! to NGA.

Cross-posted with Suzanne.

Hee hee...thank you to both Sue's!! Being a photographer I kinda try to capture the best part of the flower. If this helps...it's a link to my portfolio showing the whole flower, not so much the leaves or anything...but just more of the flower. I did already name it thinking that's what I found...but it can be changed. Would it be OK to just post the link to my flowers from my portfolio since it does show a larger portion? I have LOTS that I'm not sure of that I've already named...so I may post a bunch today.

We do have a photography forum.

If you are looking for an identification for a plant make a separate thread over on the Plant ID Forum for each plant you want identified. The folks will need to have enough information to make a good identification. They will need to know where you live, see photos of the entire plants, detailed photos of certain parts of the plant.

I would think that people who would buy what you are selling (on your other site) would not need the botanical name of each plant; they should be satisfied that the item for sale has a pretty picture of a plant. Thumbs up

If you want to delete something just look at the bottom right of the post and find "Edit"; then delete any portion of the post you want to remove.

What kind of plants do you grow in your garden? How large is your garden? We would like to see images of your garden as well as the selected flower images. Thumbs up Thank You!

Food for thought...just had to say one more thing...I wouldn't go to all the trouble that I have to find the names of the flowers and put in the descriptions on my portfolio if I just wanted to sell the things. I like knowing what I'm taking photos of and learning about them. Thank you "greene" for you help!!

If I figure out a way to delete myself from this site...you wont be bothered with me again. Looking for a way now!!

Have an extremely wonderful day!!

Dawne, the thumbnails on the forum pages are cropped but they are intended to be clicked on for the full-sized picture. When I do that to your "Ruby Spider" it doesn't look different from the one on your website. When you upload to the Plant ID forum people will usually look at the full-size version in that way. I don't think you can delete a post, but you can edit it.

You pretty much told Dawne she wasn't welcome here. I found it offensive. I'm sure Dawne did also or she would not have reacted the way she did. Sighing!
