Can anyone tell me what causes the wet looking streaks on iris leaves? Or what it is an indication of? It doesn't happen to all in an area and there are no chew marks.

Unfortunately, I don't have photos. Another was asking and I thought maybe some experienced people here may know what I am talking about. I saw the wet looking streaks on a few of mine in the spring but I took no photos. I thought I read somewhere it could be borers but I can't find that reference now. I also didn't keep track of those and the ones I did have borers in. I guess I will need to pay more attention in 2017!!

There are a number of things that can cause wet streaks -- rot is one of them, scorch is another I do believe. Borers don't leave *wet* streaks, I don't think -- I had an infestation once and it seems to me that the leaves turn yellow. Not streaky.

Did you lose the rhizomes that had wet streaks?

I've seen those wet looking areas on leaves of irises once in a while over the years. I never knew what caused them, but it didn't seem to bother much, so I didn't get too concerned.

No, I didn't lose the rhizomes and it doesn't happen to them all in one space so I guess it is nothing to worry about. Just hoping someone could explain it. But you're right Tom. There are other issues more serious that we do get concerned about.
