Do you have a list of the top/best Hosta Vendors?

Have you considered buying from members? Every spring I offer over fifty cultivars including the hosta of the year. Prices are very reasonable for quality plants. Take a look at my list, and remember that I will list which ones will be for sale.

In the past I bought from QandZ nurseries, but they are no longer selling hostas. If I want a hosta, but I am not going to buy large quantities, I will buy from Wade and Gatton or Plants Delight.

I would consider buying from members. Do you have a price list?

What months do you sell.

How do I "watch" a forum?

I'm already watching threads but I want to watch the forum. ???

Late last night I was stumbling around on my own looking for "Liberty" because that's the most mentioned favorite large Hosta.

I bought this because the reviews say it is a very slow grower.

I'm not sure where you're located in Utah, but there's a member on here named Paul that's in the Salt Lake City area, I believe. He may also be able to give you some names of local nurseries that he shops at. He has a thread on here with some beautiful pictures. Some vendors offer free shipping with a minimum order in the early spring. The problem with online is the cost of shipping...I usually end up buying more than I intended just to make it a better deal. But that might not be such a bad thing!

My heart feels like I need about 75 Hostas growing near to my house.

If you could help me with that it would be appreciated. I like the lighter colored ones that are variegated for beauty but my intention is to create an emergency food source so I want the sweeter tasting ones.

Yes. Paul2032. I messaged him and he recommended an online search.

I want to buy Liberty and Victory from @Professora because that's the two most mentioned in your favorite large thread.

I have purchased from Professora, and she does send nice plants! She has quite a list of plants available, so 75 shouldn't be a problem!

If you're still interested in other online vendors, I recommend Naylor Creek, Northern Grown Perennials, Made in the Shade, Land of the Giants, and if you're on Facebook there's a group called Hosta Buyers Guide that have lots of vendors offering plants all through the season. You'll have to search for the group and then ask to join. I don't think it's a public group.

(I would actually prefer buying my plants from other members of garden.org just to give them the support they deserve.)

I KNOW how much effort it takes to grow things.

So far nobody has mentioned Hallson's in Michigan. I have not bought from them because I'm in Canada but I've visited and been impressed with the operation. I've also seen on-line pictures of the plants other people have received from them and they are impressive. Finally Chris, one of the owners, is an acknowledged expert on HVX. You can be sure you are getting healthy plants.

Wow. I just counted up the number of Hosta pots I've purchased this year.
73 pots total so far

482 divisions within all those pots put together.

Earlier in this thread I mentioned that my heart felt like I needed 75 plants.

And all of them are progressing with the exception of 1 Loyalist that lost 3 leaves but grew 2 more.

Just curious, wouldn't it be just as easy to store some seeds for an emergency food source, combined with canned goods? Just wondering? Thx
