I received another awesome order from O'Bannon Springs yesterday. Because I've injured my back, I've temporarily planted several huge clumps into pails until I can get them into the beds.
Today, this little scape popped up on Fellow! Since they were out of the ground, though, I'm wondering if it will actually bloom.
I ordered on the 25th, they arrived on the 27th, so they were likely out of the ground for less than 48 hours. However, if that was long enough to damage the scape, I would rather just cut it and let the fans put their resources into growing.

I would love to see a bloom this season, but I'm really too new to this addiction to know what to do. Opinions would be appreciated. :)

It's at the back of the clump, and has a couple of buds on it, light green in color. It wasn't there (or at least, wasn't noticeable) when I planted them yesterday.
It's not a great photo, but I really couldn't get a better one without being able to bed over or kneel down.

yes it should bloom but will take away energy from the plant establishing it's self better. Since it's a clump you should be fine but if it was a single or even a double fan producing a scape 3 days after planting I'd suggest removing it.

It will probably keep the scape and bloom.
There appears to be two cut scapes, which means the plant has expended some energy already, but if it has been well grown, there shouldn't be any harm in letting the current scape bloom one flower to check to make sure it is the correct plant. If you wish to cut the scape after, then all the better for the plant.

Thank you both for taking the time to respond! The interesting thing is that the AHS database lists Fellow as an EM bloomer, so I assumed that I would have to wait until next year to see blooms. I'm very excited, and may see if one or two buds will bloom before I cut the scape.

I would let it bloom a bloom or two before cutting the scape.

@mystlw The daylily looks very yellow. I would give it some epsom salt water or epsom salt sprinkled around it and then water it. That will help the daylily have magnesium and allow it to use nutrients like nitrogen. Many blessings for a fantastic Friday and a wonderful weekend!

I think that's the camera on my phone, it tends to give things a yellowish tint for some reason. I posted a beautiful photo of a couple of Frans Hals blooms to the database, and instead of orange/rust they appear yellow/red.
