I have the same problem every year. Lots of figs but most of them just sit on the tree, green and hard. They ripen one at a time - suddenly puff up to twice the size and turn yellow, then when they droop, they are soft and ready (and the squirrels eat them)
. This seems to happen after a rain storm most often. So maybe some extra water will push them to ripen?
What variety is your tree, do you know? Mine is 'Celeste' and I have had at least one person tell me that this variety commonly has the problem.
