I would just like to tell anyone who is a diabetic (type 2) that you should try eating purslane seeds. I am and it is helping me to keep my readings lower. I eat about 4 or 5 tops of purslane containing seeds, about 2 times a day and my numbers are better. My numbers were so improved that I thought there was something wrong with my meter and I called for a new one. When I got it I put a strip in each meter and got the same results and i thought about what I recently changed in my diet and it was the addition of purslane.

This is an where common names should raise red flags and make people nervous, edibility/medicinal uses of plants. Purslane is used to refer to P. oleracea and umbraticola. Are the nutritients/medical benefits the same for both? IDK.

They're very closely related and probably have very similar nutritional value. The ornamental purslane is just a descendant of the old standard purslane where they kept selecting for more and better flowers.
