I have a plant grown from imported seed that grew large and was highly productive in seed. I'm looking for someone who grows these as Perennials and has grown these from seed before. Anyone a huge fan of these?

Keith, the times I have grown them, they behaved as biennials. They eventually fizzled out. I use Dianthus to edge some of my beds and they never die out and bloom in all but the coldest months.

Yes these are the same except mine got tall and were pure white, perhaps they are from the wild and that's why?

I do grow these, mine are also the tall variety but multicolored rose, pink, white. Great clove scent. They return year after year. Not interested in more seeds but I want to encourage others this is great plant to have growing at edge of perennial garden.

These are from a spooky cross
I think I have six different colors from this cross

These are the type we call sweet william and normally act like bi-annuals.

I also have the clove type mounding perennials . Most of them are short 10'' or less.

Sweet William single mixed, dianthus barbatus, a tall (20") scented biennial. Seeds from gardenhoard.com back when they gave free seeds if you donated your seeds. I think it was from someone in North Carolina.

I'm a huge fan of wild and old fashioned Sweet William, dianthus. I've never seen a white form but sounds wonderful! Thumbs up
