Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Half Moon Key')

A vigorous grower. Decent bud count. Glowing throat and attractive watermark. This year it was splotchy a lot, but it was an unusual year.

This is a great plant. It does very well in my Zone 5 garden. Takes dividing well, as I seem to dig into it every year. It is splotchy for the first several blooms, but then it improves greatly. The bees do a good job of setting pods.

This is still a young plant in my garden, but it did bloom and rebloom this year. I did have a scape to blast on the plant in early spring, one of only a few plants in the garden to do that. The scapes were very thick and held the blooms up high. Not a lot of buds on the plant this year, but hope for more next year.

It scape blasted badly for me the first few years I grew it but has stopped and is now very dependable and is in many ways a better plant than it's sibling BELLE COOK.

This plant is much improved since last year. The plant is now just over three years old (June 2014) and it shows.
This plant has been moved at least twice and dug up by critters a few times and still has done well here. It is now 8 fans. I pulled only 4 scapes from it this morning, but that is not a true indication of how many it has actually produced. They averaged 31 inches tall, only 2 way branching (one did have three way branching) and averaged 14 buds per scape. The blooms have been their registered six inches. The plant is now reblooming.

I might should have added this to all the plants reviewed at this time of year. Most of my plants go through a dieback at this time during the hot weather, so the plants probably look about their worst at this time. The foliage is normally much more lush than the clumps you will see when the photos are taken past last June.
