This was one of the larger ones, most of them weighed about 8 OZ.
I picked them a bit before they were ripe as the birds were beginning to find them. Today, I canned the ones that were ripe. Kept the rest to make a pie, and eat fresh as they ripen.
I should have used wide mouth jars, as they were large, and a few of them got a bit mangled putting them in the jar, but I had them already washed and sterilized, so I just squeezed them in. I was one jar short, so I did use one wide mouth and that worked much better. Next time I'll know better. If I remember that is.

tveguy3 said:It's not too abnormal but we had extended days like four days in a row of that low temp, and it happened twice during that winter, with many days at 20 below. Remember the polar vortex? It was that winter.
